Living with cancer, I experience brain fog caused by some of my treatments and medications. This makes it difficult to find the focus that I once had. While there is no way to eliminate this completely, I have found that the Focus & Clarity essential oil blend is able to stimulate my mind and helps to put me back on track.

When I am feeling distracted or overwhelmed, I place the Focus & Clarity blend into my diffuser and allow it to fill the room. The invigorated scent is designed to not only clear the mind by helping oxygen get to the brain, but it also gives a boost of energy and a sense of calm.

HOW?

Focus & Clarity is a blend of pure organic essential oils that have science backed support showing they can clear the head, encourage staying on task even when fatigued and improve memory. Studies have shown that certain components in essential oils react with the naturally occurring Vitamin C found in the brain, and can positively affect your mood!

Each oil is gas chromatograph tested to assure it has not been diluted (adulterated) with unwanted chemicals.

Created in partnership with Nancy Scott, a Certified Aroma Health Practitioner (CAHP) and member of the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists.

OILS:

Peppermint: Clears the mind and induces an alert, positive mental state. Studies show an improvement in cognitive function on demanding mental tasks, and a reduction in mental fatigue.

Cedarwood: Contains sesquiterpenes, which help deliver oxygen to cells and can bypass the blood/brain barrier. Studies have been done which show it may be useful for brain injuries by improving function.

Lemon: Studies support that inhalation reduces stress, increases cognitive function and improves memory.

Rosemary: Awakens the senses, sharpens the mind and improves clarity. Useful for improving concentration and significant improvements to memory have been found in numerous studies.

Cardamom: Increases both concentration and productivity.

How To Use:

Steam inhalation: Add 3 drops of undiluted essential oil to a bowl of steaming water/facial steamer. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5 to 10 minutes. Up to 3 times per day.

Direct inhalation: Apply 1 – 3 drops of undiluted essential oil to a handkerchief/tissue and inhale occasionally. Up to 3 times per day. We have gifted you a face cloth, just add water :).

Bath: Add 2 – 8 drops of undiluted essential oil with the same amount of shampoo or liquid soap before adding it to the bath. Mix the water gently. For maximum benefit, remain in the bath for 10 minutes. Use 2 drops of undiluted essential oil the first time and increase by 1 drop per bath up to a maximum of 8 drops. Use once daily.

Topical: Do not use essential oils undiluted. Add 5 drops of essential oil to 1 teaspoon (5ml) of carrier oil, (or 2 drops for small children) for a final concentration of 5% essential oil. Apply to the affected area up to 3 times per day. Rub and/or massage into skin until solution vanishes.

Commonly Asked Questions

Where do the ingredients come from?

Essential oils are made by plants, serving a purpose for both the plant, and for you as well! For example, Frankincense heals tree wounds and it is also wonderful at preserving and healing human skin. If you visit the ingredients page of each blend, you will see which plants provide them. Each of our ingredients are pure, organic, and globally sourced. They are tested by independent labs to assure that they contain what you want in them, and are free from anything you do not want in them – like contaminants or adulterants. Some parts of the world, due to their unique geography and climate, produce certain plants that make the most desirable essential oils. Feel free to research the process each ingredient undergoes to become an oil ingredient!

If an oil smells bad, does that mean I should avoid it?

Unfortunately, an essential oil that has oxidized (chemically broken down) or has been contaminated or diluted with something undesirable will not smell any different from a “good” oil. If an essential oil “smells bad” it is unlikely a result of the oil being bad, but rather your dislike of the scent. Just as you may dislike the smell of a candle, or the taste of food, essential oils are a personal preference. Oils will degrade over time and exposure to oxygen, light and heat will accelerate the deterioration. Essential oils do not last forever! Citrus oils have the shortest life span – about a year if kept under ideal conditions. Buy the smallest amount possible so that you will use it up before it ages.  If you are worried about the age of your blend, consult the expiration date at the bottom of the bottle.

How do I know when my essential oil will expire?

At the bottom of each of our essential oils, you will notice a small circle with the lot number and expiration date. These dates are approximations. How oils are kept can extend their lifespan, or shorten it. The biggest offender is oxygen. Buy oils in small bottles so that you can use it up in a reasonable amount of time and not allow the bottle to become a big air space with a drop or two of oil at the bottom. Dark bottles will deter light entering the bottle, and storing oils in a cool, dark place will help to keep your oils in the best possible state for the longest period of time.

What is a lot number?

Each harvest of an oil produces one batch of oil. It will be different in chemical composition from all other oils, in a different harvest, even if made by the same plant! So each harvest is assigned a “lot number” which the grower will record. They then have a record of when the oil was harvested, and where. Each harvest is independently tested, too. The results of these tests tell the grower and bottler what exactly is in that batch. That batch or lot number is your guarantee that each harvest is recorded, and is traceable, as well as providing valuable information about the chemical composition of each batch.

How should I store my essential oils?

Oils are best stored in small bottles made of dark glass. The small quantity allows you to minimize the contact of the oil with air, or oxygen. Oxygen causes a chemical reaction called oxidation. Oxidation degrades the quality of the oil. You know how your cut apple turns brown if left on the counter for a few hours? That brown color is oxidation at work and it is actually breaking down the apple. The same process happens to essential oils. Dark glass keeps light from accelerating this reaction and keeping oils in a cool, dark place (a fridge is great) also slows down this chemical reaction. It will preserve your oils longer the same way it keeps food longer. Ideally, you will have a separate fridge or cool, dry place for your oils – not in the fridge with your food.

How can I use my essential oils?

Oils can be used topically, if diluted properly with a carrier oil, or they can be inhaled. They can be diffused in a room, dropped into a personal inhaler, dispersed in a shower or bath water, or used in a hot or cold compress. If you love a blend, you can even make your own perfume! Directions for properly using the oils are itemized on the information card included with your blend, or If you look at our description page under the how to use section, you will find many ways to use your essential oils. You don’t even need a diffuser to smell our wonderful blends!
