Rape culture is still a huge issue in our world and is perpetuated by the myth that someone can “ask for it” through clothing, demeanor, or acting flirty. In truth, the only real form of consent is actively agreeing to another’s advances. This first piece is our No Series shows that women should always retain the right to say “No” without danger to their safety or disrespect.

While women have made huge strides toward equality, there are still signs that rape culture is alive and thriving. Today, 1 in 16 women are coerced or forced into their first sexual experience. In the wake of #MeToo, experts believe that a shift needs to be made from teaching people how not to be raped to teaching people not to rape. (The Guardian)
