ONLY YES MEANS YES LIPS ART PRINT

The “Yes Means Yes” Movement came out of the “No Means No” Movement of the 1990s started by the Canadian Federation of Students. While the original movement did much to get students talking about consent, it suggested that if the word “no” was not said, then sexual acts were consensual. In 2014, the “Yes Means Yes” law became a bill in the state of California. This shifted the burden of proof from victims to the accused in cases of sexual assault.

Often when discussion sex, society places the responsibility on potential victims to keep themselves safe and prevent assault, when really this is something that should be solely the responsibility of potential attackers. We need to do better in teaching our children what consent really looks like and how to properly communicate with future partners. This design is meant to help start that conversation.

Artist: Bridget Moore:

Bridget Moore is a Los Angeles based artist who is better known under the moniker, Handsome Girl. She focuses mainly on digital illustrations, revolving around intersectional feminism, body positivity and female empowerment. Bridget’s design path started as a therapeutic outlet for her own eating disorder, which she secretly struggled with, on and off, for over 15 years.

Moore started drawing as a way to celebrate the beauty of her own body and other women’s bodies, celebrating all the different shapes and shades beauty can come in. She later moved on to adding in playful takes on sexual health, snacks, and positive affirmations. All things that have been fundamental elements in her personal recovery and her ongoing journey to practice radical self-love and appreciate for all the diverse beauty in this world.
